Interesting Article On ‘Heightism’

August 23rd, 2007

It has been in the news lately that Americans are no longer the tallest people in the world. A recent article that I found particularly interesting and amusing was one that Lloyd Garver wrote for CBS called, “The Trouble with Tall People“.

Mr. Garver addresses how this global shift in height distribution might change how we as a society look at people who are short of stature. Will we start looking at shortness as a more desirable trait, or will we, as Mr. Garver asserts, start looking for ways for our citizenry to catch up to the Netherlands?

Of course he is posing his scenario in a tounge in cheek manner, but we all know how competitve our country is, so it does make one wonder.

Welcome To A Short Revolution

August 20th, 2007

As you have read on our home page, A Short Revolution is dedicated to women and girls who are short of stature. As you know, short women come in all shapes and sizes. Some of us are 4’11” and a size 0, while others are 5’2” and a size 14. The purpose of this site isn’t just to highlight the fact that the fashion world ignores us short gals, it is to preach the message of body type acceptance.

We welcome you to comment in this space and let us know what inspires you, what annoys you, and what you would like to see happen in the world of petite fashion. We hope that you use this site as a forum to voice your opinions.

When we decided to launch this site and our line of T-Shirts and accessories, we read a lot of blogs and visited a lot of inspirational websites. Please visit our links page to see the list of websites that we found to be the most informative and helpful.

Also check out our T-Shirt line. These shirts were designed to spread the message that we are short and proud and that there are millions of us out there. Our hope is that together we can make the fashion world sit up and take notice of us.

After all….
SHORT IS THE NEW TALL
